How to access Ext4 on Windows 10/8/7. FAT32 and NTFS are the main file system types for Windows, while Ext4, Ext3, and Ext2 are the main file system types for Linux. To clarify, i know i can read it in on linux, but i have a buffalo nas, that has external usb that you can just plug in a drive are read only unless they are xfs.

Starting with Windows Insiders preview build 20211, WSL 2 will be offering a new feature: wsl -mount. This new parameter allows a physical disk to be attached and mounted inside WSL 2, which enables you to access filesystems that aren’t natively supported by Windows (such as ext4). You can only increase the size of an XFS file system. In comparison, ext4 supports both extending and reducing the size of a file system. The ext4 file system does not support more than 2 32 inodes. XFS dynamically allocates inodes. An XFS file system cannot run out of inodes as long as there is free space on the file system.

There are several issues that may lead to this problem. For instance, if you are running HFS+ for Windows by Paragon Software in a BootCamp configuration, you won’t be able to see the Mac OS X system drive due to Core Storage restrictions. No, Time Machine volumes are not supported. They can be opened only using the corresponding application on macOS.
